Why Al-Anon?
I came into Al-Anon in 1988 at the suggestion of my counselor. I was barely functioning and feeling so battle weary, hopeless, depressed, and fearful. I no longer liked the person I had become. I left my first meeting feeling better than when I arrived and hearing, “Take what you like and leave the rest.” made it possible for me to return knowing no one was going to tell me what I had to do.
Principles of Al-Anon through the 12 Steps
Study of these Steps is essential to progress in the Al-Anon program. The principles they embody are universal, applicable to everyone, whatever his personal creed. In Al- Anon, we strive for an ever-deeper understanding of these steps, and pray for the wisdom to apply them to our lives.
