I’m trying to improve my conscious contact with God. As I go through the day, I pause when agitated or doubtful and ask for the right thought or action.
My mind is so busy! Running here and there projecting all kinds of scenarios. Lately, I’ve learned how to meditate. First, I set aside 20 minutes a day to meditate. I close my eyes and as thoughts come I simply let them pass by. I do not dwell, follow, or give the thoughts a second chance. If I get a sticky thought then I breathe; I just keep breathing. The thought or thoughts will eventually go away. At the end of the session, I write down or note what impressions I received.
Sounds simple but is not easy. Usually, I do well but this morning my mind was so busy I simply tried to breathe. The miracle is that during the day, my mind will drift back to my meditation session helping me to be more peaceful.
I believe that God will get through to me during meditation and at other times, if I am praying for God’s will. It might come through a conversation, music, something I read, my thoughts, or circumstances. When pondering my thoughts, I ask God, “God, is this idea from you?”.
So, today, do you have time to meditate? To ponder God’s will for you?
(Thanks to Al-Anon for the inspiration.)
