We often say yes to everything and everyone but yet we often say no to service and our recovery. This is what I heard from a dear recovery sister of mine as I discussed accepting the nomination as the alternate district rep. The effects of alcoholism and other isms cause me to fear new opportunities for fear of failure. Making decisions becomes an overwhelming experience and I feel inadequate to take on anything else. This program has taught me to make one decision at a time and trust. So, I decided to put my recovery first. Many in our fellowship understand the wonderful gifts of service. I want those gifts – I want to get better. When I got busy, I got better. My fear of being overly busy and not serving our district appropriately lessens when I pray and trust that God and this fellowship will carry me and show me the way. This fellowship has shown me unconditional love for the past 12 years as I grow and mature into the person I am today – imperfections and all. I do not work a perfect program but I do have one and I hope to serve with humility and acceptance of all our differences. I get to practice how to be in full acceptance of people, places, and things as they are. Woohoo! Thank you for placing your trust in me. Please consider joining me and the rest of our new panel of trusted servants in service. Your service will continue to strengthen our district and fellowship.
With humility and gratitude, Lupita G. Alternate District Rep for 2021 (March 2021)
